TruScreen visits Vietnam

TruScreen visits Vietnamese Distributor, meeting with local government officials to bring the TruScreen technology to the women of Vietnam.

January 18 2023

TruScreen’s Commercial GM, Dr Jerry Tan, travelled to Vietnam in late December 2022 as boarders reopen and pandemic pressures begin to ease. Dr. Tan’s trip was focused on aligning and supporting our new local distributor and gaining a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges in the market on its road to recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.

A highlight of the trip was a screening project run that screened 870+ women over 5 days. The screening project, funded by GHS, our local distributor, and supported by the local government and a local charity, brought free TruScreen screening to women in Dak Nong Province, many of whom have not had access to cervical cancer screening in the past. The project was met with extensive support and praise from local government and women. Off the back of the successful project, TruScreen’s local distributor will partner with Dak Nong Province Hospital to establish a local reference center. The local government will assist in opening up the private sector in Gia Ngha, the capital city of the province where the middle class is growing rapidly with a strong demand for better healthcare services which currently cannot be satisfied locally.

Dr. Tan took also the opportunity to visit local key hospitals in Ho Chi Mihn City. Including attending a TruScreen seminar at Central Line Tu Du Hospital, regarded as the best gynaecologic hospital in South Vietnam, which is currently in the procurement process for TruScreen following a successful pilot program last year.

TruScreen’s seminar at Tu Du Hospital was well received with over 90 doctors across the country in attendance. The seminar had 4 speakers give presentations on the features and benefits of the TruScreen technology and its role in cervical cancer screening in Vietnam, this was followed by a 90 minutes Q&A session. The seminar speakers included Chair Dr Tran Ngoc Hai, Deputy Director of Tu Du Hospital, Dr Tran Dang Khoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Women and Children’s Health under the Ministry of Health, Dr Pham Ho Thuy Ai, Deputy Director of OBGYN Department of Tu Du Hospital, and Dr Pham Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of Tu Du Hospital.

The trip was very successful and fruitful. We believe that after the years of hard work, TruScreen business in Vietnam will take off in 2023 and is expecting rapid growth in the second half of 2023.
